I’ve made many a circle skirt in my day, but it’s been long enough since the last one that I needed a refresher in order to make one as a baby gift for a baby shower I’m going to in a couple of weeks. I hit the serious jackpot with this blog post I found. She has a circle skirt tutorial and a printable PDF pattern for a 0-3 month sized circle skirt. Score!
Skill level: Very easy – This sewing project would be good for beginning sewers.
Time commitment estimate: It only took me 30 minutes including printing off the pattern.
The tutorial I linked to above is great and super easy to follow. I’ve included some ‘during’ photos of my own below.
The one thing I would add is once your elastic is sewn, fold it in half and mark with a pin. Then line those pins up and mark the other fold creases with pins. Then do the same with the circle skirt opening. This way you can line up each front, back and side section accurately. Photos below.
Cutest little thing I ever did see. Plus I’m sort of obsessed with this fabric. I got it from Drygoods Design in downtown Seattle. They have the most magical fabrics, and I’ve heard their classes are amazing.
I plan to get a couple of onesies and some baby leggings to complete this gift, but I also wanted to make a pair of these quick baby shoes I’ve made so many times before. See some other examples here, here and here.
