I wanted to make a quick and colorful baby gift to go with some baby shirts I had bought a friend. I went with this pattern I’ve had for years, but made the easy elastic pants and shorts instead of the button down shirt. (Check out a shirt I made using this pattern here.)
Skill level: This sewing project would be good for beginning to intermediate sewers.
Time commitment estimate: It took me about 2 hours total, including cutting the pattern and ironing the fabric.

1. Fabric – I would recommend 100% cotton machine washable with the cutest print you can find. Both the shorts and the pants require so little fabric that this ends up being a very inexpensive project as well.
