My best friend, her husband, and their twin 3-year-old twins were staying with us last weekend. I had so many plans to have various crafts and fun things set up for the toddlers to do, and of course none of them actually happened. (Thankfully, it turns out that our pets and some stuffed monsters I made years ago were enough to keep them mostly entertained.) But then on Saturday afternoon I had a lightbulb moment with two things we had laying around.
I had these pipe cleaners on hand because I made a 6 pack of beer into reindeer for someone’s Christmas gift last year. (Which I would totally recommend. Post to come around the holidays, I’m sure.) The Toasted Oats were left over from the last time we had a baby staying with us. They’re a match made in jewelry heaven, really.
The best part was watching their little hands figure out what they needed to do in order to get the Toasted Oats to slide down the pipe cleaner, and then seeing their satisfaction when they succeeded.
They did such a good job and definitely enjoyed the process of making their own necklaces.
